Welcome, friend! For those of you who are new here, my name is Kim, and I am a wife, mother, photographer, author, and doula. I love to document the lives of my children as they grow, as well as my own personal growth over time.
I find that I can never take enough photos and videos, much to the chagrin of those around me. I enjoy art, music, literature, and I basically bleed coffee. I love nature, and if I had the room I would have a gigantic garden and a million and one animals. I love working with my hands, and I truly enjoy a good sunset. I have a massive bucket list (see Project 501), and I love DIY projects. I also love to pretend I can sing and dance, much to the amusement of my kids. I’m busy 99.9% of the time, and I use approximately 3 paper planners to help keep my life in balance.
I am a published short-story author, and I am currently writing a Fantasy novel series: The Echarian Chronicles. Book 1, Echaria Rising, will be available on Amazon and Kindle Direct on May 11, 2018. My poetry anthology “The Galaxies in my Mind” will be available on Amazon in the Fall of 2018.
I’m currently on a journey to get my health and fitness under control, and lose about 150 lbs. I am doing this while fighting Cushings and PCOS. I was an active athlete for most of my life, and in the last 3 years my lifestyle changed, in addition to becoming ill. In 2016, I dealt with a bout of stress-induced alopecia (which led to me shaving my head) and was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in my back which was successfully removed via surgery. I fully recognize that reclaiming my health and fitness is going to be an uphill battle, but it’s one that I’m willing to fight.
I want to take a minute to introduce the rest of my family:
This guy is my rock, the love of my life, and my biggest supporter.
I honestly don’t know what I’d do without him by my side. We got married on March 14, 2011, and we’ve never once regretted it. Through several moves, various promotions, pregnancy, parenthood, and all the craziness that comes along with life, he’s been there for me. I’m so beyond thankful that I can call this man mine forever. He is so supportive (and patient) when it comes to my career as an on-call birth worker, and he is incredibly understanding that my clients and my business are vastly important to me. He puts up with my shenanigans, and together we share a love of Star Wars, Marvel, LoTR, and all things parenting related.
Our oldest child. A combination of noise and dirt. Oh how I love this little boy. His enthusiasm for life is contagious, and his energy is boundless. The poor boy was born 2 days after Christmas, so he’s going to grow up as a holiday babe. So sorry about that, bud! His favorite things are trains, trucks, and dress up. He wants to be a dentist or a police officer when he grows up. His favorite sports are soccer and hockey (to play and to watch, respectively), and his favorite color is red. He is on the Coral Springs Swim (pre) team- he has to finish mastering the strokes before he gets his official invitation! He has a passionate love for pizza, steak, and green beans. He’s a chatterbox brimming with sassy retorts and sarcasm (and no off-switch). I 10/10 would recommend spending an afternoon with him.
This sweet, snuggly child is our rainbow baby, born after 3 pregnancy losses. She is almost 3 years younger than her big brother, and she follows him around everywhere. The two of them are nearly inseparable, and she wants to do everything he is doing. She is much more subdued than he is, and she adores a good snuggle. She loves all things princess-related and sparkly. She is our little animal whisperer- even wild squirrels and birds will approach her. She’s never met an animal that didn’t immediately love her. She loves to sing and dance, and she can’t stop herself from moving when she hears a catchy beat. She’s full of smiles and giggles- she’s basically what I would describe as the human version of a ray of sunshine.
Ella and Bruce. These two are our furry
babes. Ages 5 and 3 1/2, respectively, they bring much
joy to our home. We adopted Ella first, in March of 2013. Bruce is a new addition to our family as of July 2016. We can’t imagine our lives without them. Both are adopted from local shelters, as we are firm believers in “adopt, don’t shop”. Bruce is heartworm positive, and is currently being treated. They are both Pointer mixes, and love to spend time outside. Neither of them will fetch a ball, though! Hey, no one is perfect.
This is my safe space to document my unique journey, and to record the memories we make as a family. I’m so glad you found me!
